Youth Centre

Winterhill Young Peoples' Centre is situated at the top of Little Common Lane adjacent to Winterhill Comprehensive School. The centre is built above one of the largest School sports hall's having fixed basket ball and football nets. The BMX track is also situated close to the centre. The centre benefits from a modern fully fitted kitchen having a bistro feel to it and a coffee bar area where young people enjoy to express their culinary talents whilst socialising with others.

The centre has an open access design and is wheelchair accessible throughout with comfortable seating areas and learning spaces with computer access points. The centre also has regular access to the sports hall, enabling young people to participate in a range of sport and fitness activities.

The centre is open six evenings per week working with young people aged 11 to 19 years and works with young people with disabilities up to the age of 25. During the day, one to one support and targeted group work sessions are delivered to young people who have been referred to the Early Intervention Team and have been identified as benefiting from additional support. The centre also is a base for some of the Early Intervention Team workers including: Youth Workers, Youth Intervention Worker, Police Young Persons Partnership Worker and Connexions / Prospects Personal advisor who all work in an integrated way in order to support young people's holistic needs.

Young people enjoy the variety of provision available including; drop in sessions for advice and information, project work, residential opportunities and accreditation programmes and volunteering.
