Exam Dispensation

The JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) specify that a student’s ‘normal way of working’ is priority when considering awarding Access Arrangements to a student.  Therefore, whilst we will accept private reports, we will not automatically award an Access Arrangement based upon it.  It will, however, trigger an internal investigation into the normal way of working for that student.

At Winterhill School during Year 9 all students are screened for access arrangements.  From these results further 1:1 tests are administered during Year 10, if required, using a range of the following diagnostic tests:

• WRAT 4 (Wide Range Assessment Test) Spelling, Single Word Reading, Sentence Comprehension

• CTOPP 2 (Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing)

• DASH (Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting)
