Google Classroom: email summaries for guardians
As a guardian, you can receive email summaries about your child’s activity in their classroom.
In email summaries, you can review:

Missing work—Work not turned in when the summary was sent.

Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails).

Class activities—Announcements, assignments and questions recently posted by teachers.
If there’s no activity to report, you won't get an email summary for that day as all students' work is set as per their timetable.
Before you begin
You can opt in to receive your child's Google Classroom email summaries with any email address as long as this is the same email address as the one you use as parent/carer on our school system. If you wish to update your email address on the school system, please email: update@winterhill.org.uk with your old details, new details, child's name and form group prior to following the steps below.
If you would like to receive your child's Google Classroom email summaries, please email the address below giving the following information:

*PLEASE NOTE : We can not accept email addresses that are not registered with school, due to safeguarding regulations. Please register all your email addresses as well as telephone numbers prior to asking for the guardian summaries.
However, to view or update your email summary settings, you would need a Google Account. With a Google Account, you can change the frequency of your emails, update your time zone, see the children connected to your account (if siblings are both accessing Google Classroom), and unsubscribe from email summaries. If you unsubscribe from email summaries, you’re still connected to a student as long as you have a Google Account. Otherwise, unsubscribing removes you as a guardian.
Get email summaries
To get email summaries of your child’s work, you must accept an email invitation from an administrator. You have 120 days to accept an invitation before it expires. You can unsubscribe from summaries or remove yourself as a guardian at any time.

Once your have requested access (see steps above), we will email you an invitation to join your child’s class.

In your email program, open your email invitation.

Click Accept. If you’re not the guardian, click I’m Not The Guardian.
4. Click Accept to confirm.
When you accept an invitation, you will be asked to accept the email address you have chosen to receive the summaries on, or switch to another account of your choosing.
Click Accept, you will then be able to choose the frequency of the email summaries from Google Classroom for your child.
PLEASE NOTE - If you have a Google account you will have the choice to have daily summaries, if you have any other type of email address that isn't connected to a Google account, then you will only be allowed to have weekly summaries. Keep your email safe, from it you can update your settings and unsubscribe from the summaries if you choose.

Class activity
If the email address that you get summaries delivered to isn’t a Google Account, you can create a new Google Account with that address. Then, you can see and update the email summary settings.
1. In your email program, at the bottom of any email summary, click Settings. From here you can also unsubscribe from the emails and take yourself out of your child's classrooms.
2. On the email settings page, click Create New Account.
3. Fill in the requested information and submit.
