MyChildAtSchool [MCAS] is a portal enabling parents to view their child's academic performance in real-time via a web browser or App. This facility allows exclusive access to the child's Attendance, Assessment and Behaviour whenever the parent/carer wishes.
As well as student performance data, the portal also provides general useful information about school such as the Academic Calendar and Announcements, we are also looking to roll out Parents evening booking via MCAS.
Winterhill News & Updates
New National Lockdown Announcement January 2021
Schools are now closed for all students, except those who have at least one critical key worker parent or are in need of extra support, this is until February half term.
Free School Meals: As of Monday 18th January, in line with recent government guidelines, we will be replacing the food parcel scheme currently in place, and providing a weekly £15 food voucher to all children of Winterhill school who are eligible for free school meals, no matter if they are still attending school or working from home.
We are currently working with the Government provider for the voucher scheme, and it is intended that all vouchers will be rolled out to families via personal emails shortly.
The £15 voucher can be used at any participating supermarket of choice and it is there to cover five meals per week, per child, to ensure that all children will have access to substantial and nutritious meals during the school week.
We have taken the decision to roll out the vouchers as one so as to cover the 4 weeks up to February half term (Monday 18th Jan - Fri 12th Feb), therefore, each child eligible will receive 4 x £15 vouchers. It is important that personal emails are up to date and that the school has the correct one on the school system, if you have changed your email recently please contact school to provide us with the new one, via email
If you have any further enquiries please contact school.
Remote Learning: all other Y7-11 students will begin their lessons remotely as of Tuesday 5th January 2021, via their Google Classroom. (Please see our remote learning page for additional support.)
Year 11 Exams Consultation 2021: If you have a child in Y11, you will be aware of the government’s announcement to cancel exams. This week, the DFE announced a consultation on the way GCSE grades could be decided this year.
To share your views in this consultation, please click here.
Rapid Testing: You will have been aware that we were planning for the introduction of rapid testing for all students in school. This will now be delayed for the majority of students. Testing will begin as planned for staff and students who are in school. As soon as we have any updates on reopening, we will write to you all to inform you about the new testing timeline. However, you are still able to submit your registration forms and consent forms via the letters and updates page.

Please remember that, due to the current national restrictions, all students, staff and visitors are expected to wear a face covering when entering and exiting the school building, moving around indoors at lesson changeover and in communal areas at social times. Student will also be asked to put on their face covering before they leave each lesson and at the end of the school day, unless medically exempt.
